Bhagavatam - Beautiful Bhagavatam
Srimad Bhagavatam means beautiful Bhagavatam (Srimad
Bhagavatam 12.13.15). the glorification of Srimad
Bhagavatam is so much important in the life of a devotee
that, without the mercy of Bhagavatam, one cannot
advance a little bit in devotional service (Srimad
Bhagavatam 1.2.16-18). The study of Srimad Bhagavatam
is also very relevant for the purpose of knowing Bhagavatam,
becoming bhagavatam.
So, anything that contains, or is related to, the
Supreme Personality of Godhead is the subject matter
of Srimad Bhagatavam, anything. We know that everything
has emanated from the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
Bhagavan (Srimad Bhagavtam 2.9.33-36). Therefore,
you name a subject matter, and that will be included
in Srimad Bhagavatam. You name it, Bhagavatam has
it. Srimad Bhagavatam has a complete treatise (Srimad
Bahgavatam 2.10.1). Therefore it is very, very important,
the most important thing in the life of a devotee
is Srimad Bhagavatam.
Chaitanya Mahaprabhu established that "aradhyo
bhagavan vrajesa-tanaya tad dhama vrndavana... ssrimad
bhagavatam pramanam amalam prema pum-artho mahan.."
(Caitanya-manjusa commentary on Srimad Bhagavatam).
Four things he taught us; that the Supreme Personality
of Godhead is vrajendra-tanaya, Lord Sri Krishna is
called Vrajendra-tanaya, and His abode is Vrndavanam;
the study of Him, and His abode, everything, is in
Srimad Bhagavatam and that is the most important thing
in the life of a human being if he is to achieve the
ultimate goal of life; and the process of visuddha-bahkti
shown by the gopis is the only subject matter that
we have to follow...
